Blaugust; waxing my bike chain
I'm late to Blaugust! I have an excuse—I was out of town with the family and without any sort of physical keyboard. (Good job, Sal.)
Quoting the linked page:
The goal is to stoke the fires of creativity and allow bloggers and other content creators to mingle in a shared community while pushing each other to post more regularly. Above all the goal of Blaugust has always been to prove to folks that they can in fact sit down every day and create something fresh and then share it with the world. Posting regularly builds a community and in this era of AI-slop content, our voices are needed even more than we ever have been at any point in the past.
Sounds grand. I'm in!
Topic du jour: I'm going to wax my bike chain today, or at least start the process. I've been reading about waxing for a while. It sounds great: the wax lasts a long time, extends the life of your chain, and keeps it from getting all grimey. Enough people I trust are raving about it that I'm ready to hop on the wagon.
I splurged on SILCA's waxing pot and wax even though you can do this on the cheap with a bargain-basement crock pot and paraffin. I'm willing to pay for convenience at the moment. Soon I'll be at the paint store buying the last couple of things I need to clean my chain in preparation.
Ta-ta for now! 👋
